What are handstands?
Handstands are the epitome of balance and strength. Train with us and explore the basics: with correct posture, arms and legs fully extended, and hands shoulder-width apart. Progress to advanced hand balancing, demanding increased strength and precision.
Handstands transcend surfaces - utilising the floor, blocks, or canes - and create a range of possibilities, from single-handed stands to intricate shapes. Seamlessly blending with contortion, acrobatics, and gymnastics, hand balancing offers a dynamic path for artistic expression and physical prowess. Elevate your mastery of movement today.
The history of handstands
Hand balancing and handstands have deep historical roots, spanning ancient civilizations like Greece, India, and China. These practices were integral to physical education, entertainment, and spiritual traditions. Today, they are prominent in gymnastics, yoga, circus arts, and more, showcasing their enduring appeal and versatility
What to wear during handstand classes
For maximum comfort and unrestricted movement, we recommend wearing stretchy, breathable clothing such as leggings, tracksuit bottoms, tank tops, t-shirts, and sports bras. Tight-fitting attire is ideal to avoid interference during handstands.
To enhance technique and achieve fluidity, we advise participating barefoot in our classes. While socks are optional, ensure they won't cause slipping.
For safety and focus, please remove all jewellery and watches, and tie back long hair before class.
